Electricity Markets
The electric markets have continued their upward trend across the US as storms and seasonably-normal to warmer temperatures sweep across the country. The rise in costs is most prominently displayed over the next 6-8 months with minimal movement in the outward years week over week.
Seasonably-warm temperatures have led to a significant decrease in volatility over the last week.
Natural Gas Markets
January 2025 settled at $3.514 amid a rise in gas costs over the next 36 months. Though slight, this has led to a tightening in the spread from 2025 through 2027.

Natural Gas Inventory
Working gas in storage was 3,529 BCF as of Friday, December 20th, according to EIA estimates. This represents a net decrease of 93 Bcf from the previous week.
The Baker Hughes exploration rig count increased by 1 rig, for a total of 103 this week.
Weather Update
Temperatures are expected to be below average for much of the continental US over the next week.
